New Blog A newly made blog for discussion about color in science and medicine is underway.
"Confocal Microscopy" book Jerry Sedgewick's book chapter on post-processing will be included in the "Confocal Microscopy" new edition. This edition will be published, hopefully, before the end of 2013.
Measurement of Braid Wire Density (Picks per Inch) March 15, 2013: Feasibility study for an automated, computer-aided measurement (Picks Per Inch) completed. The Imaging and Analysis system scored 7 times better than the maximum required tolerance after a Gage R&R (Repeatability & Reproducibility) study. The medical device company requirement was at a maximum tolerance of 30%, and the Imaging and Analysis system tolerance scored at 4.14% tolerance. The required time for obtaining Picks Per Inch was dramatically reduced from 15 plus minutes to less than 2 minutes. The system comprises a modified flatbed scanner and computer software for acquisition from the scanner, post-processing and measurement.

February 1, 2013: A previous article by Jerry Sedgewick that had been published in "Current Protocols: Essential Laboratory Techniques," has been chosen to be re-published in a special collection. The new book is called "Current Protocols Select: Imaging and Microscopy." Karen Chambers, the Senior Development Editor for Wiley Press explained that the Editor, Simon Watkins, had added a section on image handling and requested that the article be re-published.

Seminar invitation to UT Houston, Anderson Cancer Center December 30, 2012: Mr. Sedgewick has been invited to the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in Houston, Texas, to give a 2 and a half day seminar on post-processing in Photoshop, and on the preparation of figures for publication.
